| FASC 335 | New Genres: Experimental Practices in Contemporary Art |
4u | Fall | None |
This studio course begins where culture leaves off and artists take up the slack. At edges of discourse lie fields where the problematics of society take route to build alternative ideas and situations. By exploring these alternatives, we'll take cues for our own production. This class will involve five fields of inquiry: private property, environmental ecology, psychology and human behavior, globalization, and identity. These positions will offer us an entryway into theoreticians, artists, and other indefinable generalists whose work creates visions, discourse, and suggestions for other ways to communicate. Basic instruction for editing video and sound will be included in the course, and the class will have access to both sculpture facilities and media labs. FASC 335 is taught by artist Robby Herbst.
