| /D-clearance for Fine Art courses
FINE ARTS MAJORS: Request clearance *during* your advisement appointment with Christina Aumann or Antonio Bartolome. (click here for Advisement Sechedule)
FINE ART MINORS: Request clearance during their advisement with Christina or Antonio; they can also email their minor advisor to request D-clearance Include your USC ID number, full name, phone number, as well as the course number, title, 5-digit section number and time/day of the class you want clearance for. We will email or call you once you have received D-clearance. (You must be a declared minor.)
Non-Fine Art Majors or Minors: D-Clearance is first given to declared Fine Arts majors and minors. You can request to be put on our non-major/minor waitlist by coming into Watt Hall 116, calling (213) 821-1290, or email us at faadvs@usc.edu.
Your phone message or email must state that you are a non-major/minor requesting D-clearance for a Fine Arts course. You must also include your full name, student ID #, phone number, the class you are requesting D-clearance for, time and day the class meets, and the 5-digit section number. All information must be clear in order to process D clearances!
We will telephone you on Wednesday April 30th to notify you if you have received D-clearance. If the class becomes full, we will let you know and notify you of any other sections that may be open as an alternate option.
NOTE: Departmental clearance is not automatic. It goes to currently declared Fine Arts majors, minors, and graduate students by request, as well as students on the waiting list.
Q: I want to become a Fine Arts major or minor, can I get D-clearance? A: You can request to be put on the waitlist for D-clearance. Only students who have already been officially admitted to the Fine Arts programs receive priority D-clearance.
"R" Classes: You do not need permission or clearance to register for "R" classes. Most Fine Arts "D" clearance classes will become "R" classes on April 31th. For more information, please contact the Fine Arts Student Affairs office at (213) 821-1290.
