Associate Professor CHARLIE WHITE recently screened his film American Minor at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival as an Official Selection for Director's Fortnight. The film, along with a new group of photographs, was was included in the major survey exhibition Nine Lives: Visionary Artists in Los Angeles at the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles. Charlie is also the subject of a solo exhibition titled Spilling Hot Gossip at the Oslo Kunstforening in Norway. His newest book, Charlie White: American Minor, was published by JRP this year. White has had solo exhibitions at Andrea Rosen Gallery in New York, f a projects in London, Wohnmaschine in Berlin, Brändström & Stene, Stockholm, and the Center of Contemporary Art of Salamanca, Spain. Group exhibitions in which White has participated include The Puppet Show at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Philadelphia, The Old, Weird America at the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, Sympathy for the Devil: Art and Rock and Roll Since 1967 at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, and Art in America Now at the Shanghai Museum of Contemporary Art. Recent books on White's work are Charlie White, Monsters (Power House Books, New York) and And Jeapordize the Integrity of the Hull (TDM Editions, Paris). White is included in the Windsor Collection, the Tatler Collection, and public collections of the Dallas Museum of Art and the Orange County Museum of Art.
