Funding

The USC Roski School of Fine Arts MFA Program offers two levels of funding: the Teaching Assistantship and the Studio Assistantship. Both awards afford students the opportunity to gain classroom experience assisting faculty in undergraduate studio and theory courses.

  • The Teaching Assistantship (TA) award covers the full cost of tuition for one or two semesters, and includes a monthly stipend and medical and dental benefits. Teaching Assistants are required to work ten (10) hours per week for an undergraduate faculty member.
  • The Studio Assistantship (SA) award pays a monthly stipend equivalent to a competitive hourly wage, but does not cover the cost of tuition nor medical and dental benefits. Studio Assistants are required to work six (6) hours per week for an undergraduate faculty member.

All Roski MFA students receive some level of funding, and the funding awards can be renewed annually.

First-year awards are granted during the admissions process. No special application is necessary for these awards, as all applicants are automatically considered. Awards for second-year students are allocated at the end of the first year.
