The priority deadline to apply to the MPAS program for the 2010–2011 academic year is Monday, March 1, 2010.
Admission Requirements
Admission to the Public Art Studies program requires the completion of an online application:
Personal Statement, Writing Sample, and Letters of Recommendation
All MPAS applications should include a 1500–2000 word personal statement, a writing sample, and three letters of recommendation from instructors or persons able to comment on the applicant's academic potential. These materials should be submitted electronically via the USC Graduate Application Web site.
Academic Records
Submit official copies of all college transcripts to the USC Office of Admission and to the USC Roski School of Fine Arts. Scores for the GRE are only required for admission to the dual degree programs. All foreign applicants must submit recent TOEFL scores.
Interviews
Interviews are required in person, phone, or by videoconference. Before applying, prospective students should contact the Master of Public Art Studies program at 213-743-8540, pasprog@usc.edu, or lovins@usc.edu.
Deadline
The priority deadline for the 2010–2011 academic year is March 1, 2010. Applications may be submitted after this date on a space available basis. The Master of Public Art Studies program only accepts applications for fall admission.
Dual Degree Requirements
Applicants for the MPAS/MPL (Master of Public Art Studies/Master of Planning) must also apply to the School of Policy, Planning and Development. Dual Degree candidates are required to submit GRE test scores. Applicants should contact both the Public Art Studies Program and the School of Policy, Planning and Development for information and admission requirements. Please note: the School of Policy, Planning and Development has a January 15 application deadline. Applicants for the MPAS/MA (Master of Public Art Studies/Master of Arts in Jewish Communal Service) must also apply to Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion. GRE scores are required. Applicants should contact both the Public Art Studies program and the Jewish Communal Service Program at HUC-JIR. Scholarship Information
The Public Art Studies Program offers several competitive scholarship and fellowship awards. All incoming students are considered for these awards.
International Students
Because of lengthier processing, we recommend that international students submit their applications by December 1, 2009 for Fall 2010. International applicants whose native language is not English are required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and have their scores submitted by ETS. They must also complete the Financial Statement of Personal or Family Support along with Bank Verification documents. Information for international students.
