This class works at the advanced level in the study and execution of digital video. Students have the conceptual and technical freedom to create independent projects. FAIN 420 can be taken as many as three times, affording students the intellectual space and time to realize major bodies of work as well as longer-term projects. Theoretical discussions, readings, and assignments will establish a way for students to approach their art making and help students consider video and sound. The class also places a special focus on the contemporary state of video art with museum, gallery, and artist's studio visits that focus on today's artists and tomorrow's possibilities.
