David McDonald is an artist whose primary mediums are sculpture and painting. McDonald has received a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2013, a Pollock Krasner Foundation Fellowship in 2005, and a Fellowship from the City of Santa Monica in 2012.
Solo exhibitions have included Ochi Projects, LA, Carter & Citizen, Culver City, Newspace Gallery, LA, Elizabeth Harris Gallery, NY, Peter Blake Gallery, Laguna Beach, Charlotte Jackson Gallery, Santa Fe, and Thomas Solomon’s Garage, LA.
Group exhibitions include shows at ACME Gallery, Los Angeles, Woodbury University, Capriccio Foundation, Santa Fe, Cal Sate Long Beach Museum, C24 Gallery, NY, and the Nora Eccles Museum at Utah State University.
His work has been written about in publications as diverse as The Los Angeles Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Boston Globe, Art in America, and the Santa Fean. He has taught at various institutions, including the University of Southern California, California State University Long Beach, UCLA, and New Roads High School. He is also a student of Zen Buddhism with over twelve years of practice experience.
