Joseph Daniel Valencia


Joseph Valencia is a curator, writer, educator, and non-profit arts professional. He currently serves as Associate Curator at the Vincent Price Art Museum at East Los Angeles College, where he has overseen exhibitions and public programs since 2016.

Recently curated projects include Sonic Terrains in Latinx Art (2022) at the Vincent Price Art Museum; Liberate the Bar! Queer Nightlife, Activism, and Spacemaking (2019) at ONE Archives; and solo exhibitions by Laura Aguilar, Phung Huynh, Patrick Martinez, noé olivas, Guadalupe Rosales, and Gabriela Ruiz.

He frequently writes and lectures on topics related to contemporary art, archives, museums, and (queer) social spaces. His art criticism and essays appear in Aperture, ARTFORUM, Contemporary Art Review Los Angeles, KCET Artbound, and exhibition catalogs.

He holds a M.A. in Curatorial Practices in the Public Sphere from the University of Southern California and a B.A. in Art History from California State University, Fullerton.
