Peter Robbins

BIO

With more than 40 years of experience, Peter Robbins has a long history of transforming complex visual strategies, human emotion, and core brand messaging into one seamless intuitive campaign for his clients. With his experience in advertising, branding, packaging, and product design, he is a well-rounded creative who understands how and why design can drive strategic growth in the marketplace.

Peter is a Berkeley native who grew up in a creative environment. His visual style has been heavily influenced by the punk rock graphics of the 70’s and 80’s. After cutting his creative teeth by designing the graphics for bands and clubs in the Bay Area, Peter went on to major in Graphic Design at the Pratt Institute in the 1980’s. During and after completing his studies, Peter worked at a broad range of agencies and design studios in New York City. While vacationing in L.A., Peter fell in love with the brash, esoteric designs created for the ’84 Olympics and decided to head west. In Los Angeles Peter was able to branch out into fashion and music marketing while working for Leon Max, BCBG, Guess, JimmyZ, Capitol Records and Warner Music. Eventually, Peter saw an opportunity to package his diverse background by creating his own visionary shop – BIRD.

For 27 years Peter acted as the CEO and CCO of his award-winning agency BIRD, shaping it into a unique multi-disciplinary firm. At BIRD, Peter took every project through a rigorous creative arc – from research to strategy, conceptualization to synthesis, and finally execution and presentation. Peter’s ability to consistently deliver innovative creative stems from his basic philosophy: utilize human emotion to create design that sparks both engagement and connection. Peter’s numerous clients have included IMG, Pandora, Cisco, Salesforce, Focus Features, Disney, Avery and E!, all looking to Peter to make that critical connection with their audiences.

In the last 5 years Peter has devoted his attention to his new innovative brand consulting group Blue Egg Strategy & Design where he has taken the same practices he developed at BIRD to create bespoke brand solutions for companies at an inflection point of a brand naissance or renaissance. Additionally, since 2019 Peter has been a lecturer in Design at the University of Southern California Roski School of Art and Design.

Over the years Peter has won numerous design awards in both advertising and design. His work has been published in The 100 Show, Graphis, Print and AdAge. His work has also been shown at the Cooper Hewitt/Smithsonian Design Museum in New York. When not working, most likely you will find Peter heading out for the next great outdoor adventure or on a bike somewhere in The Southern California mountains.
