Artist's Statement

My transdisciplinary practice explores spaces of ambivalence as I reconsider my relationship to the racial and sexual stereotypes that flatten my being into a two-dimensional caricature. Ambivalence examines the gray areas, in-betweens, and the "not quite" moments that shape the individual’s experience, identity, and spirituality. It holds conflicting emotions that manifest in discomfort and confusion but can evolve into the fabulous, exceptional, and fantastic. While navigating a limitless plane of flatness, I reconfigure myself to distort in impossible, grotesque, and beautiful ways.
