ABOUT THE TALK

The artist talk will provide an overview of Liu’s recent work in painting, printmaking, and mixed media, and an installation inspired by her family’s Chinese-American restaurant. The talk will share insights into her studio practice and creative influences.

 

About the Artist

Born in Taiwan and raised in the American Midwest, Charlene Liu is an artist and educator based in Oregon. Liu’s work in painting, print, and mixed media engage themes of cultural hybridity, heritage, and landscape. Her work has been exhibited at various institutions and galleries, and is included in private and public collections including the Museum of Modern Art (NY), the New Museum (NY) and Tacoma Art Museum (WA). Liu is a Professor of Art and Printmaking Coordinator at the University of Oregon. She received a MFA from Columbia University (NY) and a BA from Brandeis University (MA).
