ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Genevieve Gaignard (b.1981) is a multidisciplinary artist in Los Angeles. Her work elicits dialogue around race, beauty, and cultural identity. Earlier this year, she presented the exhibition Strange Fruit with Vielmetter Gallery, an unapologetic commentary on the material objects and performances of America's past. Gaignard’s self-portraiture, collage, sculpture, and installations reside in numerous institutional permanent collections across the nation. Recently Gaignard partnered with Orange Barrel Media on Look At Them Look At Us: a permanent, site-specific public art installation in downtown Atlanta. She received her BFA from Massachusetts College of Art and Design and her MFA from Yale University.
