Shannon Ebner will discuss her continued investigation of image-based work and poetics through a selection of work from 2011 - 2017.  Projects will include THE ELECTRIC COMMA, a multi-dimensional installation (2011 - 2013); A HUDSON YARD, a collaborative project with David Reinfurt commissioned by High Line Art (2014-2015); A PUBLIC CHARACTER, her first major museum presentation at the ICA Miami which included photography, sculpture, installation and video (2015-2016) and finally the recent exhibition STRAY (2017 - ), about which Alex Kitnick writes, “Ebner’s STRAY imagines an intervention into imaginaries, into ways of being and forms of life.”

 

Shannon Ebner’s work has been exhibited widely in the United States and Europe, and is included in the public collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; the Guggenheim Museum, New York; the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam; the Bard Hessel Museum of Art, New York; the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; the Los Angeles County Museum of Art; and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Ebner's work has also been included in group exhibitions at the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Tate Modern, London; Walker Art Center, Minneapolis; the Guggenheim Museum, New York; the Moscow Museum of Modern Art; Presentation House, Vancouver; and Künstlerhaus, Austria. Ebner’s work was shown at the 31st Biennial of Graphic Arts, Ljubljana (2015); the 54th Venice Biennale (2011); the 6th Berlin Biennale of Contemporary Art (2010); and the Whitney Biennial, New York (2008). Additionally, Ebner has presented solo exhibitions at Eva Presenhuber Gallery, New York (2017), Altman Siegel, San Francisco (2014, 2010); kaufmann repetto, Milan (2014, 2010); Sadie Coles HQ, London (2013); and Wallspace, New York (2013, 2009, 2007, 2005).  Currently, a group exhibition that Ebner curated called SOIL EROSION is on view at Altman Siegel Gallery in San Francisco thru October 28th.  In November Ebner’s work will be featured in the exhibition THE ELECTRIC COMMA, as part of a multi-step partnership between KADIST and V-A-C Foundation (Venice, Italy).  Ebner will also participate in MoMA’s Forum on Contemporary Photography in November about the study and role of pedagogy in the context of Stephen Shore’s practice, Ebner’s former professor at Bard College.
