D-Clearance for Fall 2018
Departmental clearance requests must be submitted through the online form. Phone and email D-clearance requests will not be considered. Requests will be processed on a first-come, first-serve basis during normal business hours through April 27, 2018.
Students can see approved D-clearance requests in Web Registration under My Info. Students should NOT expect to receive an email confirmation. Remember, a section of a course only requires D-clearance if there is a "D" following the section number. A section with an "R" following the section number does not require D-clearance.
Students will only be cleared for classes if space is available, if they have completed all prerequisites, and only for one section per course. Students will be notified by email if there are any problematic issues with the request. Receiving D-clearance does not guarantee a seat in any class. Students still need to enroll in the course in advance of the D-clearance expiration date.
Each D-clearance expires after one week and cannot be reactivated. If you do not register within one week, a new request must be submitted through the online request form process. Please note: D-clearance is section specific. If you want clearance for a different section of the same course, you will need to submit another D-clearance request form through the online process.
D-clearance for Roski Majors and Minors for Fall 2018:
The following forms are password-protected. All Roski majors and minors were e-mailed the appropriate password on March 2, 2018. Advisors will process as many requests as possible until Friday, April 27, 2018. After this date, you must email your requests to your Roski advisor.

D-clearance for Roski graduate students:
Advisors will start processing graduate student D-clearance requests on April 19th. To receive clearances, each Roski graduate student should email a list to the appropriate advisor. Each list should include (a) the student’s USC ID, (b) course codes, and (c) section numbers.
A graduate student looking to take a non-Roski elective should contact the appropriate department. As the term implies, each department is responsible for its own departmental clearances.
Each graduate student must receive approval from her or his program coordinator prior to enrolling in an elective course (applies to both Roski and non-Roski electives). Confirmation of the program director's approval should be forwarded to the appropriate academic advisor.
D-clearance for other (non-Roski) students:
A link to an online request form will be posted on this page on Friday, April 13, 2018. It will become active on Monday, April 16, 2018 at 8:30 am. We will process as many requests as possible until Friday, April 27, 2018. After this date, non-Roski students must email their requests to a Roski advisor.
D-clearance during the add/drop period (first three weeks of classes):
If a course is closed or requires D-clearance, the instructor's signature and the student's signature are required.
- Visit the class and speak with the instructor. Obtain the instructor's signature on the USC Course Schedule Change Form. This form is available in HSH 101; (213) 821-1290.
- Take your signed form to HSH 101 for verification, processing, and further instructions. Office hours: 8:45 am - 5:00 pm, M-F. If cleared, you will need to register via Web Registration by the registration deadline. Please note: You will only be able to register for classes for which you have satisfied all prerequisites, regardless of the instructor's signature.
