Graduate Certificate in Performance Studies

Based in the Roski School of Art and Design with affiliated faculty across USC, this 16-unit graduate certificate program provides USC Masters and PhD candidates in related areas such as English, Comparative Literature, Art History or Cinema Studies with a deep and broad education in performance art. The curriculum’s focus is on embodiment, materiality and visuality in time-based live and photographic media.

With a focus on the deep history of discourse and media relating to performance, screen imagery, embodied and visual artwork, the program intersects with ethnic studies, gender/sexuality studies, cinema studies, drama, dance and broad concerns addressing how bodies in performance or in visual images construct or resist identifications.

If you are an MA, MFA Art or PhD student, adding the PSGC can help prepare you for a future career or work in performance-studies fields.
