The Stamford (CT) Mayor’s Gallery presents: "Strength and Beauty,” Persian influenced paintings and pastels by USC Roski alum (BA '82) Afsaneh Djabbari-Aslani. Reported by Ellen Gordon of Patch, Djabbari-Aslani's Persian influenced paintings and pastels will be on view at the Mayor's Gallery March 7 thru May 4, 2023. She is very responsive to issues in the world while reflecting on a self-portrait from 1982, Afsaneh says she never finds art relaxing...

“It is a very active emotion for me. I had hoped that 40 years later I would look at this and put it away as part of my history, where politics, religion and sexism would be resolved and I would not feel this trapped. Unfortunately, politics, inequality, sexism and misogynistic behavior continues with all its trappings in an imbalanced world.”
