Tristan Esmino

MFA Art '27

Tristan Esmino is a Filipino American artist based in Los Angeles. He holds a BFA in Sculpture from California State University, Long Beach, where his performance-based practice evolved into weaving. He engages with the loom as a site of reclamation, weaving together an expression of personal history, inner evolution, and transnational identity. Through textiles, he builds a critical material language around the complexities of identity, belonging, and the ever-shifting concept of home. His practice works to navigate institutional spaces as both a form of resistance and preservation—where weaving becomes not only as an embodied act, but a cultural pulse that carries and reclaims the histories and values of his layered identities.
