Special Opportunities
As an undergraduate student at the Roski School of Art and Design, you have fantastic travel opportunities, including the possibility of earning credit towards your degree on three different continents. Graduate students in the MFA Design program take shorter study trips abroad with faculty, exploring cultural centers across the world.
Undergraduate Study Abroad Programs
As an undergraduate Art or Design major, you can earn academic credit for study abroad programs. Your advisor will meet with you to discuss how overseas coursework might fit with your degree requirements.
Australian National University School of Art
This self-directed program is ideal for juniors and seniors. A semester generally includes three courses within your major and complementary subjects, for 16 credit units in media including drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking, ceramics and select intermedia.
University of Cape Town
This self-directed program is best for juniors and seniors, with studio art offered as a full-year course from February through November. You choose from painting, sculpture, photo, printmaking and intermedia courses, transferring a maximum of 16 credits for the year.
Florence, Italy: Syracuse University
This program is for sophomores who’ve completed specific Italian language courses. While abroad, you’ll live in a private home with a Florentine family. A semester may include five courses, including three within drawing, painting and printmaking.
University of the Arts London
This 15-credit program offered during spring term through the University of the Arts’ London College of Communication is an exciting opportunity for junior or senior BFA Art or Design majors to experience immersive European-style art education, living in shared off-campus apartments.
Photography students complete courses in Situated Practice, exploring the role of fieldworker in the public sphere, and Culture Machines, studying models of production and their consequences for meaning, identity and value.
Design students may choose Graphic and Media Design or Graphic Branding and Identity as a studio course in conjunction with a course in contextual and theoretical studies.

Independent Student Exhibitions
The USC Roski School maintains a robust schedule of student exhibitions, both undergraduate and graduate. Student shows involve all majors and class years, offering you the invaluable experience of conceptualizing, creating, curating and hanging your best work in museum quality exhibition spaces.
Roski Prizes and Grants
As a student at the Roski School, your art can earn you accolades and awards. To apply, you’ll need a faculty mentor, who will work with you as you develop and exhibit your project. While three of the funding sources here are for undergraduate students, the fourth funds an MFA Art project.
