Ultimately, in my painting process, I attempt to glorify a cinematic image in the way I render it. In this way, I am drawing all attention to one specific moment in time. In a film, that moment would be brushed past in the matter of a few seconds. However, when I paint that moment, it is timeless. I am pressing pause and romanticizing it. I am telling the viewer: this is beautiful. This is impactful. Sit with it and read into it. What is the story? How does it make you feel? My paintings are cinematic in that they have a feeling of movement and familiarity in the scene, almost as if you could press play and visualize what happens next.
