About the Exhibition
“often heard, but rarely seen” is a multimedia exhibition, supported by the Macomber Travel Grant, and inspired by a long history of oral traditions which reflect complex multicultural mythologies that cultivate Caribbean identity.
In her debut solo show, Seanna Latiff, born in Trinidad and Tobago, depicts symbols and characters from Caribbean folklore in her work. The exhibition functions as a tangible archive of her familial relations and combats the historical erasure of ancestry in the Caribbean due to persisting legacies of colonial violence.
